ABOUT
People have been telling me I should do voices ever since I can remember. To me it always seemed like just another useless talent - handy for amusing my friends and making prank phone calls. The voice that became DAVE is just one of these voices that pops out of my mouth sometimes. I picked it up from NYC construction workers on a summer job when I was in college. It comes in handy especially when cursing, complaining and teasing. When I gotta curse it just feels better and sounds ruder when I give it that DAVE from NY flayva! Imagine being able to yell "HEY! WHAT YA FREAKIN' DOOIN, ASSHOLE?" like a NY cab driver when someone cuts you off. Ya know what I'm tawkin' 'bout?

New Yorkers have the reputation of saying what's on our minds, and as New Yorkers our speech is just naturally punctuated with curses. We'll be the first ones to admit it. It's a matter of pride. As a parent I have consciously been trying to tone it down in front of the kid. Having to act adult and be responsible and makes it all the more necessary to let DAVE out now and then. It's almost as if becoming a Dad has split my personality.

DAVE from NY is my outlet for this supressed RUDE energy, but where can this energy be released...? Maybe there are other people out there that could use a little DAVE from NY flayva to spice-up their day? This is how I got the idea for The DAVE from NY podcast. I mean, what else was I gonna do? Go in my basement and curse to myself once a week?

Now don't get me wrong: DAVE's not just about cursing! Anything can be more interesting when DAVE says it! Not that I have a lot to say, either. I said I could do voices, not write comedy, reviews or editorials, jeesh! No, I'm gonna need some help from YOU for this to work.
